Former police chief candidate Michael Clancey released a statement today about his decision to withdraw as a candidate for the position. Clancey issued his statement through the consulting firm that has been helping the city with the selection process, stated a news release from the city.

In his statement, Clancey said personal and other commitments prevented him from continuing in the selection process. Clancey expressed regret at his withdrawal and wished the remaining candidates luck in the interview process.

The four remaining candidates met with Columbia residents Monday evening to answer questions and meet the public.
