A driver lost control of her car and crashed into a city bus late Tuesday morning on Broadway near East Parkway Drive.

Evgenia Andreeva, 18, of Columbia, was driving west on Broadway around 11 a.m. when she lost control of her 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse and slid into the eastbound lanes, hitting a city bus with the rear of her car, stated a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

There were eight passengers on the bus at the time of the accident including driver Arturo Ramirez, 52, of Columbia. CPD officer Alan Hulett said no one on the bus was injured.

The crash may have been weather related. Hulett said there was slush in some parts of the road but there were other cars that didn't lose control.

Andreeva was issued a summons for failing to drive on the right half of the road and was transported to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, stated the news release.

Hulett didn't know if Andreeva had been released from the hospital yet.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
