CPD to conduct traffic detail
The Columbia Police Department plans to conduct a traffic detail on Wednesday, a CPD news release stated.
The detail will occur on Interstate 70 during the daytime and early evening hours, the news release stated. Other law enforcement agencies and CPD patrol officers were also invited to participate.
According to the news release, officers will concentrate on all hazardous moving vehicle violations, as well as equipment and seat belt violations. Officers will also focus on violations of Missouri’s “Move Over” statute.
CPD spokeswoman Jessie Haden said the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is often a time during which roadways are heavily traveled.
"This can equal a dangerous time, unless drivers are careful and think ahead," Haden said. "We want motorists to plan ahead for their travels, so they are not exceeding the speed limit."
