The MU Police Department received reaccreditation at the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies conference on Saturday, an MUPD news release stated.

The conference was held in Salt Lake City, the news release stated. MUPD was also recognized as a CALEA Flagship Agency during the conference.

According to the news release, MUPD was found to be in compliance with all 356 standards that were applicable to the agency. MUPD will also be required to maintain compliance with all applicable standards and will have their next on-site visit in 2012.

MUPD's accreditation manager Capt. Brian Weimer said in the news release that the process was a challenge but also very rewarding.

"Accreditation assists our department to ensure we meet and maintain the most current law enforcement standards," Weimer said in the news release.

According to the news release, MUPD's commitment to the CALEA Accreditation process is just one of the ways the department strives to ensure it is providing the most professional law enforcement services available to the community.
