CPD investigating Conley Road shooting

Columbia Police officers were dispatched to a shooting early Monday morning that happened in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at 415 Conley Road.

According to a CPD news release, a Wal-Mart employee had left the store on a scheduled break and was confronted by two suspects. One suspect demanded money and shot the employee three times. The victim was transported to University Hospital and is in stable condition, the news release stated.

The news release also stated six .22 caliber shell casings were recovered at the scene.

According to the news release, the victim said the two suspects wore orange ski masks. Officers have reviewed surveillance footage and the vehicle the suspects were in is described as resembling a Dodge Intrepid or Chrysler Concord, the news release stated.

CPD issued another release on Tuesday, stating investigators believe there were three suspects in the shooting; two on foot and one in the nearby vehicle.

Investigators have received leads on the case and are actively pursuing them, the news release stated. The victim of the shooting remains in the hospital.
