Fatal crash on Interstate 70
Officers from the Columbia Police Department responded to a fatal crash on Tuesday, a CPD news release stated.
The crash happened at 1:45 p.m. on westbound Interstate 70, just west of the Lake of the Woods exit.
The 2003 Toyota SUV was traveling westbound on the roadway when it struck two trees, caught fire and came to a rest 200 feet off the roadway, the news release stated.
According to the news release, the occupant of the car was Henry Liu, 73, of Columbia. Liu was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV sustained heavy damage and was destroyed by the fire, the news release stated.
