Teenager brings gun to McDonald's

Police were called to a local McDonald's on Tuesday after a teenager brandished a handgun at a patron, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

The disturbance happened at the McDonald’s at 205 E. Business Loop around noon.

Sixteen-year-old Darian Carter fled the area on foot and ran north, the news release stated.

Police found Carter in the area of Worley Street and LaSalle Place, running through residents’ yards.

Police searched the area Carter had run through and found what they said was Carter’s backpack, which held the gun and other items of value, after taking Carter into custody.

Carter was charged with two counts of felony receiving stolen property and one count of felony possession of a concealable firearm, the news release stated.
