One suspect arrested in high school assault
The Columbia Police Department has arrested one man in relation to the attacks on four Hickman High School students on Feb. 11.
CPD officers took Travis Emmer into custody after receiving a tip from a community member reporting Emmer as one of the possible suspects in the case. Emmers was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, stated a news release from the department.
Emmer made incriminating statements about the incident to officers after being taken in custody, police said. The other two suspects have not been identified.
Four students were running for their school team when one of them bumped into the rear of a car as they tried to run around the car on Feb. 11. The passenger of the car got out of the car and began to chase the students.
After the students became separated, three of them ran to the intersection of Eighth Street and Rogers Street when the same car, driven by a woman with another man in the passenger seat, pulled into the intersection, the news release stated.
The first suspect also came into the intersection and tried start a fight with the three students. The students ran to the police department but officers weren't able to find the car or the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing ,and CPD is asking anyone with information to submit tips to Crime Stoppers.
