Petro Mart held up in armed robbery

The Petro Mart Convenience store on 2200 W. Ash St., was held up at around 2:33 a.m. Monday, stated a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Two men wearing ski masks entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. The clerks gave them money and the suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and tobacco products, the news release stated.

Both men were described as men with thin builds and around 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall. Both wore black ski masks and black shirts. The first suspect wore jeans with slightly lighter colored pockets in the front, and the second suspect wore khaki pants with cargo pockets, the news release stated.

A Boone County Sheriff’s Department canine unit tracked the suspects to 2401 W. Broadway before being unable to track them any further due to the rain, the news release stated.
