Boone County crime incidents available on Web
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has partnered with the Boone County Information Technology Department to produce and launch the Reported Incident Viewer.
Using existing resources, the Boone County Information Technology Department has created a site in which the public can view crimes reported to the Sheriff’s Department through Boone County’s Web site.
The Web site was created in response to calls made to the Sheriff’s Department checking on crime rates in neighborhoods.
“We wanted to put the information out there for the public,” said Capt. Gary German of Boone County’s Sheriff Department. “I’ve gotten calls from neighborhood watch groups, potential homeowners and the media who ask for statistics and information on Boone County’s crime incidents.”
The site will provide information not only the public but also the Sheriff’s Department.
“The Reported Incident Viewer will allow us (the Sheriff’s Department) to see if we have had problems in a certain area," German said. "We can go back and over time see if our efforts are helping and things are changing in specific areas."
