Bank robber arrested in Kingdom City
A man suspected of robbing banks in five states was arrested in Kingdom City on Saturday, according to a news release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Chad Schaffner, 37, was wanted for felonies including bank robbery, armed robbery and burglary, the news release stated.
Schaffner was identified by a former highway officer who recognized the suspect from the TV show “America’s Most Wanted,” said Lt. Larry Plunkett of the highway patrol. Schaffner surrendered without incident after being surrounded at a motel in Kingdom City, Plunkett said.
The arrest was a joint effort between the highway patrol, the FBI and the Callaway County Sherriff’s Department, Plunket said.
The news release also stated Schaffner will face charges, which are accusations only and not evidence of guilt, in front of a jury.
