MUPD investigates stolen items from University Hospital
The University Hospital reported over $4,000 worth of missing items on Friday.
MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer said three boxes of Botox worth a total $1,650, two boxes of Juvederm and two boxes of Juvederm Ultra Plus, with an estimated total value of $2,400, have reportedly been stolen from the clinic at 7 Hospital Drive. A fleece jacket with a value of $12 and a box of AA batteries valued at $32 were also reported missing.
According to MUPD’s daily summary log, the last time those items were noticed at the hospital was in April of last year. Weimer said the items haven’t necessarily been missing since April 1 but went missing sometime between April and Jan. 22.
“They reported the items missing on the 22, and the last time they knew the items were there was in April,” Weimer said. “It’s like if you put something in your closet in August and then when you come back after break you realize it’s gone. You don’t know how long it’s been missing, you just know that the last time you saw it was in August.”
Weimer said this incident is not particularly unusual, and comparable crimes happen both at university hospitals and academic buildings.
“We have had thefts similar, as larceny is the number one crime,” Weimer said.
Weimer also said the investigation is still open, and no arrests have been made.
