Missouri football player's cousin killed in shooting
An ambulance transported Aaron Hobson to a hospital after he suffered gunshot wounds to the chest.
Police responded to the Break Time Convenience Store on E. Nifong Boulevard at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Police were there in response to several cars and people trespassing in the parking lot, a Columbia Police Department news release stated.
When officers arrived, they heard shots being fired. They located Hobson, 22, of Kansas. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, the release stated.
In an e-mail CPD spokeswoman Jill Wieneke said Hobson is MU defensive back Trey Hobson's relative.
"They are cousins," she said in the e-mail.
Wieneke said police do not know what the motive was for the shooting. CPD's Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Evidence Team are actively investigating the case, the release stated.
Anyone with information regarding the case can contact the Columbia Police Department at 874-7652, or Crimestoppers at 875-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous.
Wieneke said further information about the case is not currently available.
