Columbia police arrested a man Saturday at a Motel 6 after he told officers he was in possession of marijuana. CPD Detective Jeff Westbrook said officers were dispatched to the Motel 6 on 1-70 Drive S.E. The manager told officers that Blake Coyazo had pulled the fire alarm without cause.

The manager took the officers to Coyazo’s room. As they got closer, officers could smell marijuana.

“They made contact with Coyazo and an officer asked him if he had marijuana,” Westbrook said. “He said ‘yes.’”

Officers then found ten small baggies of marijuana packaged for sale. Coyazo told officers he was selling marijuana to make it cheaper for himself. He was arrested for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.
