Man arrested twice in three hours
A Columbia man was arrested on the charge of driving while intoxicated twice in one evening.
According to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release, 48-year-old Robert Mitchell Eckerle was stopped at about 11:57 p.m. Wednesday on I-70 near Providence Road for traffic violations. Eckerle was found to be intoxicated and was arrested on the charge of driving while intoxicated.
Eckerle has at least three prior convictions for either driving while intoxicated or driving with excessive blood alcohol content, the news release stated.
At about 2:33 a.m. Thursday, Eckerle was stopped for traffic violations on Highway 40 near Henderson Road, the release stated. Eckerle was again found to be intoxicated and arrested on the charge of driving while intoxicated.
His bond was set at $4,595.
