Thefts reported near campus
A woman reported a purse snatching Sunday. Around 1:30 a.m., a man approached the woman who was leaving Harpo's Bar with her male friend. A man approached them and stole the woman's purse, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Jessie Haden said in an e-mail. The victim said the suspect had graying hair and was wearing a flannel shirt, Haden said.

Haden also said two women reported their purses stolen from their separate vehicles late Saturday night. One car was parked on Fifth St. and the other was parked at the intersection of Hitt and Cherry Streets. In the e-mail, Haden said students should not leave items in unlocked cars.
