Walgreens on Broadway reports robbery

A Walgreen's clerk reported a robbery to police around 3:40 Tuesday morning .

According to a Columbia Police Department news release, the suspect entered the business, located at 222 E. Broadway and approached the cashier's station. The clerk told police the suspect said he would shoot him if he did not empty the cash register and put cartons of cigarettes into a bag.

The clerk told police the suspect did not display his gun, but he could see one sticking out of his pocket, the news release stated. The suspect took the bag and left through the front door when another customer approached the register to pay.

The clerk told police the suspect had a goatee and a tattoo on his left hand. He was reportedly wearing a black shirt with a silver design and black athletic shorts, the news release stated.
