CPD searches for suspects in targeted shooting
The victim of a weekend shooting spoke to police Sunday, a Columbia Police Department news release stated.
Shortly after midnight Sunday, police officers were dispatched to University Hospital's emergency room because a gunshot wound victim, whose name was not released, was being treated after being shot in the hip. Officers could not speak with the victim immediately because he was taken directly into surgery.
Investigators believe the victim, 25, was specifically targeted in the shooting.
After interviewing witnesses and the victim, detectives ascertained that the shooting occurred in northwest Columbia, the news release stated. Members of the Forensic Evidence Team collected evidence from the scene.
Police are currently looking for two suspects described as being in their early 20s with short hair, the news release stated.
