Jeremy Lee Greber

A Hallsville man was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with an assault on the MU campus Saturday.

Jeremy Lee Greber, 24, was arrested on suspicion of felonious restraint and third-degree assault. MU Police Department Cpt. Brian Weimer said Greber turned himself into the Columbia Police Department late Saturday night, CPD notified the MU Police Department, who took him into custody.

Weimer also clarified the spelling of the Greber's last name. Initial releases on the MUPD website and the Clery e-mail system misidentified him as "Jeremy Lee Gerber." A listing of inmates on Boone County Sheriff's Department website lists the correct spelling of his name.

According to a release on the MUPD website, Greber was transported to the University Police Department where he was interviewed and arrested early Sunday morning. He was processed and then transported to Boone County Jail.

Greber is not an MU student. The release said additional details cannot be released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

According to an earlier press release on the department's website, officers responded to an assault reported near University Avenue and Hitt Street at around 2:20 a.m. Saturday. A female victim was treated at the scene and released and was able to give police a general description of the suspect. Police were able to find pictures of the suspect on a surveillance camera in a nearby parking garage and distribute them to local media on Saturday.

So he was a Columbia man from Hallsville? Also, before folks start harping about cameras, keep in mind he turned himself in and the cameras did nothing to aid in his arrest.

Did nothing... if your photo was leaked to the cops wouldn't you turn yourself in, or would you just invest in a new face?
