Possible shots fired at campus shuttle
A shuttle bus driver reported to the MU Police Department that his bus may have been shot at while traveling north on Providence Road near Kentucky Boulevard Thursday morning.
The bus driver said he was driving north on Providence around 9:45 a.m. when he heard what sounded like rocks striking the side of the bus, according to a statement released by MUPD early Thursday afternoon. The statement said when the driver stopped his bus around noon he noticed two possible bullet holes near its right rear tire.
The release stated that neither MUPD nor the Columbia Police Department had received any further information about the incident and stated that Columbia police are investigating what happened.
“The safety of our faculty, staff and students is our number one priority on campus,” MUPD Chief Jack Watring said in the statement. “At this time we do not have anything to indicate a threat to the campus community.”
