Sixteen students from Lincoln University in Jefferson City were injured Sunday afternoon when a car struck with their tour bus in southeastern Tennessee, according to reports from the Associated Press.

According to the report, the students were traveling home to Jefferson City from Atlanta when the bus collided with a Ford Mustang on Interstate 75 near East Ridge, Tenn. The 16 students were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mustang, Esdras Lopez, 23, of Chattanooga, was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, driving without insurance and failing to maintain a single lane. A spokesman with the East Ridge Public Safety Department said Lopez was entering the interstate when he allegedly lost control of his car and struck the bus.
