Woman fractures skull at downtown bar
A woman fractured her skull, neck and face after falling off of the internal stairwell at Quinton's Restaurant and Bar on S. Ninth Street, a CPD news release stated.
Someone called 911 at about 5 p.m. on Saturday. The caller hung up after telling the operator someone had fallen. A police officer arrived at the scene four minutes after the call was placed and three officers and two police sergeants soon followed.
Fire department personnel located the victim and transported her to University Hospital. The victim, 19, had a blood alcohol content four times the legal limit, the release stated.
Police officers transported two potential witnesses to the Columbia Police Department so police could question them.
Hospital personnel were working to stabilize her Saturday night.
Investigators do not know where the victim consumed the alcohol and police are continuing to investigate this incident, the release stated.
