Washington misdemeanor trial set for end of month

The misdemeanor trial for Derrick Washington, the former MU football tailback charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence, was rescheduled to Sept. 30 at 1:30 p.m., when it should be resolved, according to his attorney.

The reset occurred Friday, when his misdemeanor trial was supposed to begin. Since his felony trial for sexual assault is scheduled to begin Sept. 20, his legal team will deal with the misdemeanor charges once that case is resolved, his attorney said.

Washington was charged with one count of felony sexual assault after he allegedly assaulted a tutor in 2010 and two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence after an argument with a former girlfriend in 2010.
