Arrest made in shooting case

Deazjon Ramon Brown, 18, was arrested Thursday by Columbia Police Department detectives for a shooting March 10 at 2102 Paris Road, according to a department news release.

Brown’s bail is $4,500 for first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held at the Boone County Jail.

Brown’s arrest occurred at 10:15 a.m. on the 300 block of North Providence Road.

More arrests are expected in this active and ongoing investigation.

Officers were dispatched to the 2102 Paris Road Ultra Mart convenience store in reference to a disturbance where shots were fired.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old male victim with a non life-threatening gunshot wound. Other vehicles were also damaged from gunfire. The victim was transported to a local area hospital by paramedics for treatment.

Officers found and recovered evidence at the scene.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Joe Bernhard was not available for comment.
