Here are some final thoughts on tonight:

-There was no knockout punch tonight.  McCain was fairly effective when he was talking about taxes early on, but the second half of the debate was fairly stagnant, with neither candidate really scoring any points with the voters.

-I think that the focus of these candidates was very different.  McCain was much more aggressive, and that will likely score points with his base, but Obama was more focused on the middle class, referencing them in almost every answer.

-In conclusion, McCain needed something tonight to turn around a race that is starting to trend towards Obama, but that might not have happened tonight. However, there is still three weeks left, which is plenty of time for this race to turn around.
