Askren earns No. 1 seed, wins first match
Senior Max Askren, seeded No. 1 at 184 lbs., started off his tournament successfully, by defeating Wisconsin's Travis Rutt 4-0. Askren is the only Missouri wrestler to earn a No. 1 seed.
Other notable seedings are senior Nick Marable, seeded No. 4 at 165 lbs., sophomore Dom Bradley, seeded No. 4 at HWT and defending national champion, senior Mark Ellis, seeded No. 6 at HWT.
