Missouri dominates in second round, only two starters lose
Senior Nick Marable drags Harvard's Adam Hogue by during their match Wednesday at the Midlands Tournament at Northwestern University. Marable, who received the No. 4 seed, won the match by injury default.
In the second round of the Midlands Tournament, sophomore Nathan McCormick started strong against Wisconsin's No. 4 seed Tyler Graff, but got taken down to his back and pinned.
Junior Todd Schavrien won his first match by technical fall, defeating Oregon State's Garrett Drucker 16-0.
Sophomore Brandon Wiest's first match was against arguably one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Iowa's Brent Metcalf. Metcalf easily defeated Wiest, pinning Wiest in the second period.
Senior Nick Marable wrestled Harvard's Adam Hogue in his opening match. With Marable holding a 2-0 lead in the 1st period, Hogue injured his leg and Marable won by injury default.
Sophomores Dorian Henderson and Brent Haynes scored bonus points for the Tigers in their first matches, winning 14-5 and getting a pin, respectively.
Askren continued his dominance, defeating Oregon State's Brice Arand 16-3. Askren held an 8-0 lead after the first period, and just cruised to the win from there.
The heavyweight battle between two of Missouri's top heavyweights, Ellis and Bradley, started when they both won their opening bouts. Bradley pinned his opponent in the first period, while Ellis also easily defeated his opponent.
Sophomore Dorian Henderson takes down American's Spence Patrick during their match Wednesday at the Midlands Tournament at Northwestern University. Henderson defeated Patrick 14-5.
