Missouri falls behind quick

Sophomore Jeremy Maclin took the opening kickoff 39 yards to set Missouri up with good field position. However, the first play didn't work so well as Maclin was pounded on a reverse for a seven yard loss. Senior quarterback Chase Daniel then completed his first pass of the day to senior tight end Chase Coffman for nine yards. Daniel faced heavy pressure from the outside on third and ten and had to force a pass over the middle that fell incomplete. Senior kicker Jeff Wolfert used the swinging gate punt technique and pinned the Longhorns on their five. This was the first opening drive all season that the Tigers failed to score.

The Longhorns moved the ball fluidly on their first drive. Every single snap went for positive yards. The only stop Missouri had on a single play was when quarterback Colt McCoy's pass was tipped at the line, but the Tigers were called for a roughing the passer penalty. McCoy capped of the 94 yard long drive with a six yard run up the middle for a touchdown.
