Missouri preps for important non-conference tilt
The Missouri men's basketball team is bracing itself for what should be its stiffest non-conference game at Mizzou Arena, as the Tigers and the Cal Bears are set to tip off in an afternoon tilt.
Cal and Missouri enter the game with identical records, as both teams sit at 6-1 on the season. The game ought to be Missouri's biggest until a Dec. 23 game against illinois in St. Louis in the annual "Braggin' Rights" game.
Before the season, Missouri fans seemed unsure of what to expect from this year's team. Through the first seven games, Missouri's expectations have slowly begun to rise. Missouri's postseason tournament profile would be greatly helped by a victory today over a "name" program like Cal.
Missouri's success likely hinges on its ability to defend junior guard Jerome Randle. Randle's averaging 21 points per game so far in 2008.
