Game review

The No. 24 Tigers improve to 4-0 on the season with the blowout 51-13 win over Miami of Ohio. The Redhawks fall to 2-2 with the loss.

It was a productive day for the Missouri running game, as all four of the Tiger tailbacks found the end zone. The defense also had a strong showing, only allowing two field goals all game before the backups yielded a Redhawk touchdown in the final minutes.

Another rushing TD for Tigers

Freshman tailback Marcus Murphy highlighted the backup offense's scoring drive, running it in from one-yard out to extend the blowout lead.

All four tailbacks have a touchdown in the game with Murphy's score. It is the first career touchdown for the speedy freshman.

Tigers now lead 51-6 as time winds down in the third quarter.

Redhawks show some life

Miami of Ohio finally put together a scoring drive late in the third quarter, sinking a 40-yard field goal to slim the margin to 38 points.

The Redhawks now trail 44-6.

Tigers punch it in on QB sneak

The Tigers took over in the red zone after the Miami of Ohio fumble and finally scored after multiple short yardage plays and a few stops by the Redhawks. Gabbert snuck it in on a one-yard run, making him the fourth Tiger with a rushing touchdown.

Missouri leads 44-3 in the third.

Miami of Ohio fumbles deep in own zone

Sophomore linebacker Zaviar Gooden recovered the Miami of Ohio fumble. The Tigers take over at the Redhawk 13-yard line.

Grant Ressel connects on 50-yard FG

The offense came up short in Miami territory, resulting in a 50-yard field goal by junior place kicker Grant Ressel. The kick was the longest of his career.

Tigers now lead 37-3 halfway through the third quarter.

Gabbert finds Kemp wide open for touchdown

Gabbert found junior wide receiver Wes Kemp wide open for a 33-yard TD after their play action froze the Redhawk defense. The score was Kemp's first of the season.

Perhaps more interesting than the score was the point after kick, which hit the upright and missed. It was the first PAT miss for Missouri since 2005 and breaks string of 252 consecutive point afters.

Halftime update

Missouri leads 28-3 at half.

After the Tiger defense scored just eight seconds into the game on the fumble return for a touchdown, three different running backs have added touchdowns for the offense. Freshman Henry Josey, sophomore Kendial Lawrence and junior De'Vion Moore have all racked up over forty yards and a score.

Miami of Ohio has put together some drives on offense, racking up 156 passing yards in the first half to Missouri's 84. But the Redhawks have not been able to convert those stats into points. They have put themselves in position for two field goal attempts and only made one of them.

The Tigers will receive to start the second half.

Gabbert throws it away in the end zone

The Tigers threatened to tack on another score before half time, but junior quarterback Blaine Gabbert threw it into Redhawk hands in the end zone.

Miami of Ohio takes over with just 18 seconds left in the half.

Redhawks on the board

Miami of Ohio hit a 23-yard field goal after they were unable to get in the end zone on the Missouri defense.

Score is now 28-3 Tigers.
