Texas Tech upsets Missouri

The Tigers were unable to stop the Red Raiders in the final minutes as they put up a few final first downs and ran the clock down. Texas Tech held on to win 24-17 after scoring three unanswered touchdowns.

Missouri did not score in the second half for the first time this season. It was also the first time the Tigers have been outscored in the second half.

The Tigers fall to 7-2 on the season.

Gabbert and passing game struggling

Gabbert has just 95 passing yards against a defense that has let up nearly 400 yards a game in the past four games. Bad passes and some big drops have plagued the Tiger passing game.

Missouri is forced to punt after another series of incompletions. Tech takes over with under three minutes to play and leading 24-17.

Gachkar blocks Tech field goal attempt

Texas Tech went for a long field goal on fourth and long, but the kick was blocked by senior linebacker Andrew Gachkar. That makes two straight weeks with field goal blocks for the Tigers.

The play keeps Missouri in the game as they only trail by a touchdown with ten minutes left in the game.

Red zone interception for the Tigers

Missouri linebacker Zavier Gooden picked off Potts with Texas Tech threatening inside the 10-yard line. Potts was hurried on the play by defensive end Jacquies Smith.

The interception came as the Red Raiders were about to take a two-score lead. Tigers still trail 24-17 late in the third quarter.

Red Raiders take the lead

Potts and company drove the field once again and capped it with another passing touchdown. Potts found receiver Lyle Leong on a short slant route in the end zone. The 92-yard scoring drive was their second longest of the season.

Texas Tech has now scored 21 straight points on three Potts passing touchdowns. Tigers trail 24-17

Texas Tech ties it up

Taylor Potts and the Texas Tech offense flew out of the gates in the second half, finding the end zone in just over two minutes and posting his second passing touchdown of the night.

The score is now 17-17 with twelve minutes left in the third quarter.

Halftime update

Missouri jumped to an early lead with two touchdowns in the first seven minutes of the game. Since then the Tigers have employed the punt team on most of their possessions, aside from a field goal in the second quarter.

The Red Raiders couldn't find the end zone until the last minute of the half when senior quarterback Taylor Potts threw his first touchdown of the game.

Despite Texas Tech's poor passing defense, Missouri is getting most of their work done on the ground. The Tigers already have a season-high 243 rushing yards, including 101 yards for sophomore Kendial Lawrence. Lawrence and freshman Marcus Murphy have each broken loose for 70-yard touchdown runs.

Gabbert has been held to just 50 yards passing on 6-for-12 passing.

Tigers lead 17-10 and will kickoff to start the second half.

Tech trims the gap to end the first half

Taylor Potts connected with Detron Lewis for an 8-yard touchdown and the Red Raiders first touchdown of the game with under a minute left in the half.

Texas Tech put together a five-minute, 82-yard drive to make the score 17-10 Tigers.

Tigers extend lead with field goal

The Tigers put together a long scoring drive midway through the second quarter but weren't able to score once reaching the red zone.

Ressel nailed a 27-yard field goal to make it 17-3 Missouri with just over five minutes left in the first half.

Josey fumbles in Tiger territory

Freshman tailback Henry Josey fumbled near the Missouri 40-yard line to give Texas Tech back the ball in good field position. The call on the field was reviewed and upheld.

Tigers lead 14-3 with eight minutes left in the half.
