Burroughs defeats Chandler, Nebraska takes lead
Starting with the 157 lb. weight class, every wrestler on both teams is highly ranked. The first match is between Missouri's Michael Chandler, ranked No. 8 in the nation, against Nebraska's Jordan Burrough's, ranked No. 1. Burroughs struck first, scoring a takedown with just 14 seconds remaining in the first period. Chandler escaped just three seconds into the second period to bring the match to one point. Going into the final period, Burroughs took down. Burroughs quickly escaped to go up by two points. With 27 seconds left, Chandler took Burroughs down to tie up the match and erupt the Hearnes Center crowd. Burroughs escaped with 10 seconds left and was able to hang on to win 4-3.
