POLICE REVIEW BOARD: Rosenthal will not speak

Columbia Police Review Board member Susan Smith has begun giving a statement saying that although Columbia Police did not find more than a misdemeanor amount of marijuana, the items they did find prove that the residents of the house that was raided were distributing marijuana. She recommended that the board accept Columbia Police Chief Ken Burton's report on the incident.

Board Chairwoman Ellen LoCurto-Martinez said there will not be any statements from the Columbia Police Department or marijuana activist Ed Rosenthal.

Board member Betty Wilson said she does not think the board should accept Burton's report.

"I am uncomfortable with the chief's finding because it is so narrow," she said. "There's a lot of grey are in situations like this and those grey areas are where the problems can be. I'm not satisfied with where we are."
