Students packed into the bed of a pickup truck on Richmond Avenue head toward the bulk of the celebration in Greektown on Sunday night. An estimated 1,000 people, many of them carrying American flags, packed the area to celebrate the killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Gay pride flags hang from lamp posts around the Carnahan Quad and 1,752 red flags represent how many suicides have resulted from discrimination of the LGBTQ community in the past year. The Triangle Coalition placed the flags to raise awareness and rally for a change in attitude toward the LGBTQ as a part of Pride Month.
