Marquette pulls away for victory

Late fouls prevented Utah St. from pulling the upset over Marquette. When the Aggies held a 49-46 advantage, Marquette's next seven points came from the stripe.

A banked 3-pointer by Pooh Williams for Utah St. cut the late five point deficit to 56-54. Jerel McNeal went one of two from the line with 20 seconds remaining, putting MU up 57-54. The Aggies didn't get the look they wanted on the following possession when their big man, Wilkinson, missed a 3-point attempt.

One more free throw for the Golden Eagles was all they needed to ensure the victory. Utah State's buzzer beater 3-pointer to end the game was too little, too late, making the final score 58-57,
