Tigers bench outscores Marquette's, 18-2
After overcoming another bad case of the jitters, Missouri took advantage of outstanding bench play and opened up a 46-35 halftime lead.
With 12:25 remaining in the first half Missouri found itself trailing 17-11 after Marquette went on a 10-2 run. After a media timeout, Anderson went to his bench, and they pulled the Tigers back in it. Missouri went on an 11-0 run primarily because of the outstanding shooting by English.
English went on to score 13 consecutive points for the Tigers, putting them up 29-22. He has 15 points at halftime and is shooting 75 percent. Missouri's bench is currently outscoring Marquette's 18-2. His performance seemed to spark the rest of the Tigers, who then relied on defense to fuel the offense.
Marquette turned the ball over 10 times in the first half, leading to eight Missouri points. Wesley Matthews and Jarel McNeal each have four turnovers for Marquette.
The Golden Eagle's start guard Dominic James who made an extremely unexpected recovery has played 13 minutes but is yet to take a shot.
All season the Tigers have labeled themselves as a second half team. If they can live up to the name for one more half, they'll be going to Glendale, Az. for the Sweet 16.
