According to several recent polls, Republican presidential candidate John McCain -- after leading in the polls in the Show-Me state for months -- is now falling behind his Democratic rival Barack Obama.

A poll of likely voters taken last Saturday and Sunday by Public Policy Polling found that 48 percent would vote for Obama, while 46 would go for McCain.

A poll taken by SurveyUSA during the same weekend found Obama leading McCain 51-43, and another poll taken during this period by Fox News/Rasmussen found that 50 percent support Obama while 47 percent supports McCain.

Democrats are also holding leads in races for statewide office in Missouri. According to Public Policy Polling, Attorney General Jay Nixon, the Democratic candidate for governor, is leading Republican Congressman Kenny Hulshof 52-39.

In the race to replace Nixon, State Sen. Chris Koster, D-Harrisonville, is leading state Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons, a Republican, 45 percent to 41 percent. In the treasurer race, Clint Zweifel leads Brad Lager 42-41, and in the secretary of state race, incumbent Robin Carnahan, a Democrat, leads Republican challenger Mitch Hubbard 54-39.

The Republicans hold a lead in the race for lieutenant governor: incumbent Peter Kinder currently leads Democratic challenger Sam Page 47-44.

Sam Page is one of the very few Democratic candidates losing in the polls in the state of Missouri. That speaks volumes about the quality and character of candidate Sam Page. In an election year where the majority of Democrats are blowing past their Republican opponents, Sam Page continues to fight for his political life. Lt. Governor Peter KInder has completely eclipsed his junior challenger. Kinder has received praise from rural folks, urban folks, new voters, seniors, and even glowing remarks about his job performance by the DEMOCRATIC Mayor of St. Louis (published in the St. Louis Journal). Peter Kinder continues leading in the polls while Sam Page gets a resounding vote of no confidence.

Kinder has done nothing but waste tax dollars. Why would you re-elect him? Same Page is an honorable family man which is more than I can say for Kinder. How could an elected official support health care cuts ?

The words ethical and honest, come to mind when I think about Sam Page. Kinder is good at greed and self promotion. Hmmm
