McCain appearence in Columbia still not confirmed
A possible appearance in Columbia by Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain on Monday has still not been confirmed.
Maj. Tom Reddin of the Boone County Sheriff's Department said the Secret Service contacted him this week about a possible appearance by the presidential hopeful on Monday, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune.
McCain's campaign headquarters in St. Louis said the decision would be made within 48 hours of the event, and could not confirm whether or not it would be a public appearance.
Missouri Republican Party spokeswoman Tina Hervey said "nothing's planned", when asked about a possible McCain appearance in Columbia.
On Monday, McCain is scheduled to appear at an event in St. Charles that begins at 9 a.m. and an event in Belton that begins at 2:45 p.m.
