With a crucial election coming up, it's good to know Missouri is prepared for the challenges ahead.

Missouri was ranked as having one of the top six most-prepared voting systems in the country in a joint report released Oct. 16 through the Brennan Center for Justice, Verified Voting and Common Cause.

The report focused on areas such as voter verification, safe and accurate ballot counting procedures and equipment maintenance, according to a news release from the Missouri Secretary of State

According to the release, Missouri was one of only a few states that received a positive rating in each area that it was evaluated.

The report rated all 50 states in the following categories: Polling Place Contingency Plans, Ballot Reconciliation, Paper Records and Post-Election Audits.

Missouri received a "Generally Good" rating form the study in the areas of Ballot Reconciliation and Post-Election Audits and a "Good" rating for Paper Records.

“I am pleased that the diligent efforts and careful preparation of our local election officials are being recognized on a national scale,” Secretary of State Robin Carnahan said in the news release. “Missouri voters should have confidence in their election system. This year, we have increased security checks on voting machines, raised the number of poll workers statewide, and invested in more training for Election Day workers.”
