Kay Hagan, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, has been declared the victor in her race against Republican incumbent Elizabeth Dole.

The Associated Press, CNN and The New York Times declared her the victor. According to NYT, Hagan won with 54 percent of the vote. Dole, the wife of 1996 Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole, had 43 percent of the vote.
