New York, Michigan go to Obama; North Dakota goes to McCain
With another round of poll closings, another round of states have been called. RealClearPolitics.com, CNN, NBC, CBS News, ABC News and Fox News have called another five states. Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Wisconsin have been called for Barack Obama and North Dakota has been called for John McCain, with the following results from The Associated Press or CNN and sometimes both:
- Michigan, with 2 percent of precincts reporting, favoring Obama with 55 percent of the vote (CNN)
- Minnesota, with 0 percent of precincts reporting and no tallies in yet (AP; CNN)
- New York, with 0 percent of precincts reporting, favoring Obama with 73 percent of the vote (AP)
- North Dakota, with 2 percent of precincts reporting, favoring McCain with 65 percent of the vote (CNN)
- Wisconsin, with 0 percent of precincts reporting and no tallies in yet (AP)
As a result, McCain will gain an additional three electoral votes from North Dakota. Obama will gain an additional 68 electoral votes: 17 from Michigan, 10 from Minnesota, 31 from New York and 10 from Wisconsin.
