Obama supporters thanked at The Blue Note
Columbia resident David Finke celebrates with the rest of crowd at The Blue Note as Sen. Barack Obama was projected by all major networks to win the presidency at 10 p.m.
Several youth interns for the Obama campaign came took center stage to thank campaign organizers. They said the campaign registered approximately 83,000 new voters in Missouri
"This is exactly what I hoped would happen," intern Polly Edelstein said. "I think all of us have contributed equally and wonderfully.
Edelstein, a sophomore at Stephens College, said she believes Obama has a clear victory in sight because of the campaign's initiative to register new voters
"I think it has been so successful, and that's why we just won," Edelstein said
Columbia resident Linda Green was less convinced of the election's final outcome. She called the election a "nail-biter.
Green said the problems that many states had with the polling places concerned her. She said we need a system where the "vote cannot be hijacked.
"I think we really need to get our act together in this country," she said.
