Richards ahead in county race

Democratic candidate for Boone County Public Administrator, Cathy Richards, is leading in absentee ballet votes.  Richards has 60 percent and Republican candidate John Sullivan has 40 percent.

The Richards campaign is at Billiards on Broadway, along with Chris Kelly, Democratic candidate for 24th District State Representative. The campaigns chose the venue because the owners of the bar are friends of Chris Kelly.

The mood here is optimistic and light; people here are playing pool and enjoying cookies and cupcakes with the names of the candidates written in frosting.

“I am confident that she’ll win, but looking at the numbers I am a little nervous,” Richards' office manager Jessica Sapp  said. “I’d hoped she’d have a bigger lead.”

Sapp has worked on the campaign by helping in parades, and door-to-door campaigning.

"She is absolutely awesome.  I think she would be perfect for the job,” Sapp said.

Richards said she is feeling confident about the election.

“We ran a really good race, and we worked really hard,” she said.
