Young Republicans throw support behind Luetkemeyer

John Ratliff, chairman of the MU College Republicans, personally went knocking on 2,600 doors last weekend from Columbia to Mexico, Mo. The young Republican, along with several other members of the College Republicans, made a number of phone calls and was “overwhelmed by all the support [he] saw.”

“The Leutkemeyer race is going to turn out in our favor,” Ratliff said. “I’m quite confident in that. All of the areas that I’ve been, I see Luetkemeyer everywhere. I see Obama candidates supporting him.”

Michael Kauffman, an MU sophomore and intern with the Luetkemeyer campaign, said Luetkemeyer is well suited to the demographics of the 9th District.

“I feel pretty confident,” Kauffman said. “The 9th District with exception of Columbia is one big farm.”

Ratliff, who referred to himself as a “Bible-fearing, gun-toting Republican” said Luetkemeyer is the candidate to make a difference.
