Two Mo. high schools to march in inauguration parade
Two groups from Missouri, the Blue Springs High School Golden Regiment Marching Band and the Theadore Roosevelt High School Marine Corps JOTRC Color Guar and Drill Team from St. Louis, were informed today by Sen. Claire McCaskill that they would be marching in the inaguartion parade for Pres.-elect Barack Obama on January 20, 2009.
"I am so proud that these young people from Missouri will be part of this historic day. These students will be representing thousands of young Missourians who are making good choices every day and represent our future. I congratulate them on this honor," McCaskill said in a press release.
All in all, 1382 organizations applied to march in the parade, a record number of applications.
"I am honored to invite these talented groups and individuals to participate in the Inaugural Parade," President-elect Obama said in a press release. "These organizations embody the best of our nation's history, diversity and commitment to service. Vice President-elect Biden and I are proud to have them join us in the parade."
