NBC Projects Chambliss Winner
NBC News has just called the Georgia Senate runoff election for the incumbent Republican Saxby Chambliss.
Chambliss, who held a large 58%-41% among early voters, was the favorite in the race and led in all of the polling for the runoff.
The reason that a runoff was needed is because, according to Georgia law, a runoff election is required if the winning candidate gets below 50%. Chambliss, on November 4th, won the race but finished with 49.8% of the vote.
