Donnelly says "Count it!"
State Rep. Margaret Donnelly, D-Richmond Heights, who lost the Democratic Attorney General primary to State Sen. Chris Koster, D-Harrisonville by 0.2% of the vote, has requested a recount in the race.
The annoucement came after Missouri Secretary State Robin Carnahan certified the results from the Aug. 5 primary, in which Koster beat Donnelly by 780 votes out of about 346,000 that that participated
"We are following the procedure that the state has established, so at this point it is a legal proceeding," Donnelly said in a release. "We want to be sure that all voices are heard in this election, which is the common goal that we and the party both share."
On Donnelly's behalf, law firm Lathrop & Gage LC filed a request with the Missouri Supreme Court on Monday to count all votes in the race, including rejected absentee and provisional ballots.
