Republican gubernatorial candidate U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof unveiled a comprehenisve health care plan on Tuesday Missouri Heart Center in Columbia. The announcement came six months after he said he would soon deliver one.

According Hulshof's website, the Healthy Missouri Access Exchange would make health insurance available to any Missourian that can afford it, regardless of employment. The site said that over 500,000 Missourians could stand to get access to health care with implementation of the plan, which has been coined HealthMAX.

The site says that a family of four with an income of less that $50,000 could be eligible for a health savings account, which would be subsidized by the state. The state would also pay the premium on the insurance plan, and participants would be expected to pay up to five percent of their annual income.

In addition, if the plan is implemented, participants would recieve access to $500 for "preventative medical services." The site said the plan would cost the state under $50 million.

“The health care challenges facing Missouri require innovative solutions that tap into market forces and ensure maximum access,” Hulshof said in a release. “HealthMAX is a unification of different, inventive ideas that have proven to be successful. As a whole, HealthMAX is a new and creative way to address Missouri’s health care demands in the 21st Century.”
