Some early (but substantial) results on gov's race
EDITORS NOTE: Politics Watch is currently being updated from the Hulshof watch party in Columbia (we didn't have the resources to get someone down to the Steelman party -- it's summertime).
It's still quite early in the vote counting process, but three counties have already come back with full results.
In Buchanan County, which contians St. Joseph (the 8th largest city in the state), 46 percent went for Sarah Steelman, and Kenny Hulshof received 36 percent. Buchanan is the most populous county to report full results thus far.
Attorney General Jay Nixon, the presumptive Democratic nominee, took 75 percent of the vote agianst Daniel Carrol.
Of all counties that have reported numbers, Hulshof currently holds a slight lead in the race for the Republican nomination with 47.9 percent. Steelman has 45.8 percent.
