Trib publisher endorses Nixon
On Tuesday, Columbia Daily Tribune publisher Henry J. Waters III endorsed Democratic gubernatorial canidate Jay Nixon, the state's Attorney General, in his bid against Republican Congresman Kenny Hulshof.

Waters said in the editorial that, while Blunt has been a "good governor" that will be leaving behind an eviable budget surplus as he exits the mansion, but said that Missouri is due for "a change."
Waters praised Nixon for his experience in statewide office, said the four-term AG would, if elected, keep the "culturally prohibitionist" Missouri GOP in check.
In presidential elections, Waters endorsed President George Bush in his 2000 bid against former vice president Al Gore, but in 2004, endorsed Bush's opponent in his re-election run, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry.
